New Mexico Inspirations

Edgar Medina started his 2020 year by making two separate trips to northern New Mexico. These trips were both a time to recharge but, more importantly, find some new inspiration for new work and series. Like many artists who flock into the art centers of Santa Fe and Taos, Edgar continues to feel a pull to “the land of enchantment.”

Some of his earliest works drew inspiration from first trips, including one well-known series, High Road to Taos. The Santa Fe community also embraced Edgar’s work as he expanded beyond the Houston market with two showings at Art Santa Fe and representation in a gallery space on Canyon Road.

“As an abstract artist, the formations and colors of nature have always been a foundation of inspiration. Visiting New Mexico is an overwhelming rush of inspiration; every location you visit holds with dynamic landscapes and some of the most beautiful color combinations found in nature. I always return home, running back to my studio, renewed and inspired.” - Edgar Medina
